As I was reading my DIL's post ( http://piecemealpeople.blogspot.com/ ) this morning about a disgusting, gigantic, mutant bug that was lurking on her front porch last night, I was reminded of something that happened here a few weeks ago.
As I mentioned, we have my daughter's dog for a few months. When John took her outside to do her thing, look what she found in the grass. I think it is a crayfish. Yep its a shitty picture, but it was moving, and I had no interest in being close to it any longer than it took to get this one picture.
How the hell did it get in my yard? We are about 2 blocks from the river, so it probably came from there. I hope it made the journey alone.
Mutant bugs are gross, but aquatic life in your backyard, ALIVE, is not normal.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, some people boil those and eat them. With potatoes and corn, I think. Food for thought... ;)
I thought that it was a scorpion for a second!!!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should say that, that was the first thing I thought too. I was ready to put the house up for sale. Then I looked up scorpions, and although some species can be found as far north as Canada (who knew), they are relatively small. This thing was about 6 or 7 inches long, (wow that sounds dirty) and the only scorpions I found that were that big were in Madagascar. TMI, right?
